Equipment feet before and after Dry Ice Cleaning.

Within the Food and Beverage sector, ensuring that production environment and equipment, (i.e. ovens, conveyor systems and electrical components) are cleaned to an extremely high standard is a necessity for Quality Managers. However, within a production and process facility, product build up can occur on equipment and within high moisture areas there is a raised risk of mould growth.

Dry Ice Cleaning is ideal for use within the Food and Beverage sector. It is a safe, food grade media, approved by BRC, HACCP, FDA and EPA. It can clean a wide variety of equipment and provides a superior clean, and so is particularly suited for deep cleaning pre-audit.

Decontaminating Properties

Polar IceTech commissioned independent research which proved cleaning with Dry Ice decontaminates against E-Coli, Salmonella and Listeria. Using the four main surfaces present within the Food & Beverage industry (Ceramic, Stainless Steel, Slate Steel and Nylon), the research proved that Dry Ice Blasting kills the bacteria and, just as importantly, the blasting process does not cross-contaminate nearby surfaces.

Superior Clean

Dry Ice cleans to a superior standard and it can access hard to reach areas, significantly reducing the chances of failing an audit.

Reduce Downtime

Dry Ice Cleaning is a fast and effective process, which minimises downtime necessary for cleaning. For cleaning to occur, little to no disassembly of equipment is required and equipment can be cleaned in place. As the process is dry, there is no need for wrapping electrical components, and equipment can be quickly reintroduced to production.

No secondary waste

The process does not create any secondary waste. This minimises disposal costs, time needed for cleaning and associated costs.

Non-Abrasive

Dry Ice Cleaning is a non-abrasive process, and so will not damage any surfaces.

Moisture Free

The process is moisture free and non-conductive, so it is suitable for use on sensitive electrical equipment. As the process is dry, it will remove mould without contributing to further growth.

Dry Ice Cleaning is suitable for a number of applications within the Food and Beverage sector, including, but not limited to:

  • Conveyors
  • Slicers & Dividers
  • Electrical components & motors
  • Pack-off tables
  • Labellers & Gluers
  • Ovens
  • Mixers
  • Baggers
  • Palletiser
  • Proof Box Grids
  • Food Mold
